Second try today
In hindsight i should've maybe read up a few basics instead of just reaching for supplies and improvising. You can see pretty clearly that I'm struggling with opacity, viscosity and also paint mixing, but for yolo paintings I'm quite happy with both
Takeaways today: working from dark to light is oddly satisfying, definitely need to practice paint mixing because real pigment behaves very different from digital color mixing, need to read some basics of gouache and how to handle it
If you want to get deep into gouache and have money to spare, I can recommend Justin Donaldson's online course. You might have seen me post about it before - it's what I did first when I started last year, and well, hopefully my current work speaks for the solid foundation and love for the medium that I got from it
i want to attempt this style, too soon. I just managed last week to touch my gouache colors after a weak. The color mixing and water water regulation need their own amount brain cells and so i went with pencils and pens after my paint break.
I am totally prepared for failed attempts.
It's great to see your process and getting such satisfying and pretty results!
(my secret weapon will be posca pens for mistakes )
