An option that exists in any tabletop game I run is "take three". If someone's stuck for what to do, they can "take three", and the GM (me) will offer them three different options that are currently available to them, none of which they're obliged to take.

It might just be the best idea I've ever had, and I have a lot of ideas. It's apparently so good that a friend's therapist has adopted it for their sessions.
